Meet Toby

This is one of our rescue dogs, Toby. We got him from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa about 4 years ago. A friend of mine in New York e-mailed me and said ARL had a dog that was paralyzed and was scheduled to be put down if they couldn't find him a home, so off we went to Des Moines to pick him up. About 3 months after we got him, we noticed that he was acting as if he were having problems seeing and a visit to the canine ophthalmologist confirmed our worst fears. We made a conscious decision to keep him, even though he had a double disability. He's a great dog, especially loves kids - likes to nip them in the bum, that is... there's just something about a diaper that he can't resist. He's a really sweetheart though, loves to chew his rubber toys - the squeakier the better. He also likes to "help" Steve bottle his homebrew. Toby makes sure it all gets in the bottle! I'm so glad we had the opportunity to bring him home!
