Meet Toby

Toby has an interesting story. We live in Valley, Ne on a farm. We currently have 6 dogs - which is as many as we can take care of at one time! 3 years ago, one of our dogs passed away from cancer. We had 5 dogs at the time. Our dogs have invisible fence, 6 acres to run on, a heated garage with a pet door and sleep on dog beds with quilts and we even have a mattress covered in quilts! Our dogs are in our house when we are and we love them like our children/grandchildren. After our dog Luke, had passed away, I wanted to save another dog (knowing we could provide a good home). I heard via the internet, that Toby had been in a shelter in Clarinda, IA for a year or more. He was only a little over one year old at the time. He had almost been killed by someone who found him on their property. His last chance was the kennel. He was there for so long that he went for rides with the animal control officer to search for stray dogs, etc. After we had him for about one year, we contacted the shelter and asked if we could make a visit with Toby. They were thrilled that he was doing well. What was really cool was while we were there, the man Toby rode with in the pickup walked into the shelter, Toby immediately walked over to him, & gave him a kiss on his face - like he had just seen him! It was so touching - everyone in the shelter was misty eyed! He is a very good watch dog for our farm, but also very gentle with our other dogs and our two cats. We are blessed to have him as he is us!
