PARKER

Bernese Mountain Dog

Meet PARKER

Parker is described as a gentle giant. He is a very special dog as when born he had a double grade heart murmur but grew out of it fully at age five months. He his currenlty 6 1/2 years of age and has been a therapy dog since 2008. He weighs btween 108 and 110 lbs. He passed the AKC Canine Good Citzen Test with flying colors and went on to pass the evaluation by Therapy Dog International, Inc. on two occassions in an outstanding manner. He likes ALL other dogs and is especially fond of infants, toddlers, and youg children. On one occasion he "herded" a walk away toddler back to his mother while we were at a rest stop in California. He is the first dog to earn frequent flier miles. He is intuitive and helped in a nanny fashion raise 13 puppies - at only five months of age. He was their uncle. He stays by my side most of the time and loves car rides. He thinks going to the vet is fun and that I pay them to give him treats and petting and ignores shots and other unpleasant things as he is quite stoic. If he shows signes of whining then I know something is really up because he likes to please so much he rarely complains. He has quite a sense of humor and during a therapy session I was conducting took off the shoes of two young girls who were nervous in counseling and flipped them up in the air and caught them until the girls started giggling and could talk. He once helped me move stones from the grass and put them in their landscape area when he observed me doing it by hand after raking most of them. He is known my most of Lake Geneva and allowed in stores and other places where other dogs are not. He appeared on the front page of the Lake Geneva Regional News once describing his origin and the fact that Parker is truly a gift from God and is to be shared. He is my buddy and I would be lost without him.
