Things have been a bit hectic in my house over the past few days. On Thursday a frozen pipe burst and flooded our house, causing some major damage to our floors, walls and ceilings. As anyone who’s experienced a flood can attest, there are many repairs that need to be done including redoing drywall and replacing the hardwood flooring throughout our living/dining room, which has left us with completely bare cement floors that are incredibly cold and rough, especially on poor Chance’s underbelly. Plus, the burst pipe has yet to be repaired, so we’re currently without water (fear not, a plumbing hero is on the way!)

These inconveniences and less-than-ideal circumstances paired with the constant in-and-out of strange restoration and repair crews have really taken their toll on Chance, unfortunately resulting in several bouts of diarrhea. Oh joy! After much thought and discussion with Jeremy and Carol, the head of SAINTS rescue where we foster Chance from, it was determined that the best solution for him would be to go back there for a visit while the renovations are being completed at our house. While this was a difficult decision that has left me riddled with guilt for abandoning him, Carol has assured me that he has fun there. In fact, she compared his visit to a stint at summer camp; he’s surrounded by familiar counselors (Carol and Laura), and some feline four legged friends (he’s obsessed with Carol’s resident cats).

I just hope that this extended visit won’t confuse him and that he’ll remember me when we go to pick him up. Oh, who am I kidding, his love for Jeremy reaches far beyond the sands of time. His love for me, on the other hand…who knows.
