Accolades to P & G Pet Care, their campaign spokesperson Felicity Huffman, and all others who helped  get 1.2 million pets adopted (591,533 dogs, 543,569 cats and 67,649 other animals), by raising awareness through the Iams Home 4 the Holidays campaign. It's wonderful to see so many different countries participating - seventeen in total - illustrating that we can do great things when we work together... in this case, bringing attention to the millions of animals in shelters

I've been considering where I'd like to go for a winter vacation. Although my typical winter get-away gear would normally consist of bathing suit, snorkeling equipment, tank tops and shorts, I think I might trade it all in this year for snow suit, gloves, toque and long underwear. I'm not joking! I was reading an article on dog-sledding vacations and it got me thinking... northern lights, an expense of unbroken glistening snow and the solitude of winter wilderness sounded awesome... it's an Read more...

With all the preparation, planning and excitement of the holiday season now behind us, many of us feel like the winter blahs are about to set in. Don't let them get a chance...go play outside with poochie while trying your hand at a new sport. Have you ever heard of skijoring? It's a sport where a person is pulled along on skis by a dog (or dogs). Of course this wouldn't work with small dogs, but big dogs, especially those who enjoy the outdoors are delighted to be participating in an

If you live in a warm and sunny clime right now, then I'm insanely jealous. OK, I love my Pacific Northwest rainforest climate most of the time, but right now we're getting altogether too much snow... I want the rain back. The snow is beautiful and all (plus we had a white Christmas!), but it makes driving treacherous and it's downright dangerous slipping and sliding along sidewalks and trails when you're out for a dog-walk. After numerous near-falls, I remembered I had a pair of Yak Trax

Happy New Year! I hope 2009 is the beginning of a fantastic year for you. If, like me, you're thinking that 2008 passed by in the blink of an eye and you were just too busy to accomplish some of the things you were hoping to, then now's the time to resolve to bring more of what you desire into your life.  Personally, I'm looking to achieve more balance in my life, giving myself more time for exercise and play.  I plan to do that by affirming my intention. As discussed in my editorial

Known for its temperate climate and nearly snowless winters, my hometown of Vancouver is busy bundling up. Instead of its usual rain, rain and more rain (think  driving, drizzle, misty, showers, light, spitting... we get so much of it, we've got an extensive vocabulary to describe it) we've instead been in the grips of a cold-snap and recently got a dump of snow with another snow storm forecasted. When we do get snow, it usually lasts for a couple days and then it's gone. Not this year.

This past Thursday I was fortunate to be included in the studio audience for the taping of a TV segment for an upcoming series that will air in April. The speaker was none other than guru Eckhart Tolle of NY Times bestselling Power of Now fame and more recently,

When you go to purchase your new 2009 calendar, make it a Lulu & Lolly's Road Trip calendar as 100% of the calendar sales proceeds will be donated to rescue shelters across the country.  The inspiration for the calendar came about when Cynthia Miller rescued Lolly, a dirty, malnourished Maltese from a puppy mill. The experience changed her life and she is now committed to changing the way people talk about rescue animals, not wanting it to be perceived as a sad or gloomy experience. She
