As promised, here are some pics from the Abbotsford Heat game that Cash and I attended over the weekend. They’re the farm team for my favourite NHL team, the Calgary Flames, so this was a chance to get reasonably priced tickets to a game Cash could enjoy too! Plus, all the proceeds of the $5 dog tickets went to the local SPCA, and with over 100 dogs in attendance, that’s nothing to bark at!

Lucky for us, some friends of ours came along to keep Cash company. He and puppy Charlotte hit it off, although she was a bit startled by all the noise at first.

Cash wasn’t the only one distracted by all the exciting things going on, it was hard for me to stay focused with these adorable pups at my feet!

The event was very well organized which reduced the potential for the game to turn into a stressful outing. They had people from Oly’s Pet Connection walking around handing out bully sticks which was absolute GENIUS! This kept the dogs busy and happy during the game. As you can see, Cash was not interested in the play-by-play, and remained completely focused on the chew stick despite the horn honking and whistle blowing surrounding us.

Our friend Hannah had lots of fun, too. Usually Cash would have been completely infatuated with a pretty gal like this, but that bully stick had his rapt attention.

During intermission we took the dogs out for a bathroom break, and to our delight stumbled upon some of the cutest puppies I’ve ever seen! Cash was curious about this tiny hockey fan with the big bark, and casually ignored his boisterous advances.

Hannah, Charlotte, Cash and an American Bulldog puppy all greeted each other politely (and thoroughly) while a gaggle of adoring onlookers watched their interactions.

These two trouble makers made it a true hockey experience with wrestling and tomfoolery off the ice. I left the arena with a serious puppy hankering.

I tried my darndest to get Cash to pose for a photo with me in our seats in the arena, but he was not cooperating. Even getting him to sit for this photo was a struggle, and as you can see I eventually gave up and let him sprawl out on the ground.

Being able to share my love of hockey with Cash was soo much fun, and something I wish more entertainment establishments would consider. He and his canine cohorts were so well behaved, and even the attendees without dogs were delighted by their presence. Can you imagine being able to bring your dog to the movies? That would be incredible! It would be a lot easier to sit through those rediculous Twilight movies if I had my three wolf-descendants to laugh at the atrocious special effects with. Just a thought.
