“Demon” Chihuahua Finds Forever Home
Dogs described as “50% hate, 50% tremble” adopted by Connecticut woman
Earlier this month, an adoption ad for Prancer the Chihuahua went viral. His exasperated foster mom let it all out on Facebook, all but begging for someone to give him his forever home. “Every day we live in the grips of the demonic Chihuahua hellscape he has created in our home. If you own a Chihuahua you probably know what I’m talking about. He’s literally the Chihuahua meme that describes them as being 50% hate and 50% tremble.”
Prancer came to his foster home already obese with a breakfast sandwich packed in his crate for the journey. Due to his upbringing, he was not well-socialized and developed a seething hate for children, other dogs, and men. At first, he didn’t do much besides lay on the couch. After time, his foster mom was “convinced at this point he is not a real dog, but more like a vessel for a traumatized Victorian child that now haunts our home.”

It seemed only a woman looking for a seriously loyal, extremely neurotic guard Chihuahua would be able to adopt Prancer. Ariel Davis was that woman. The viral Facebook post describing Prancer reminded her of her former dog. She adopted the Chihuahua and reports he’s adjusting well. Davis has experience with neurotic dogs, telling Today she “spent a lot of time working with [her former dog] and understanding his personality and learning about myself through him.”
That’s definitely the best way to approach a dog with a “troubling” nature, and we’re so happy Prancer has found himself in a loving home, even after being described as “a chucky doll in a dog’s body.”
