Like all great stories, this one is rooted in love.

Formed from part mystical fable, part modern day tale, Dog & Crow is a new line of dog accessories designed by fashion and interior design veteran Kate Horsman.

The collection hums with a festival vibe, sings with a gypsy heart, hints of rock ‘n’ roll, and whispers a bohemian soul. It’s contemporary, stylish, and, well, it fits seamlessly into a home. It complements a modern décor like so many pet accessories fail to do – flawlessly integrating into a certain aesthetic of taste. You won’t hide the items; you’ll find a place to display them and you’ll show them off.

Beds are faux furred, tie-dyed, or lined with linen, and treat your dogs to hotel quality cushioning. Leashes and collars come in a soft bohemian braid or tougher classic leather – there’s even a crocodile stamped print for the more exotically inclined. Playful bandanas come in a variety of colours and patterns to suit his or her character. Because, let’s face it, personality is everything. There’s even removable flair on a number of pieces for human companions to clip onto their own belongings.

But what about that mystical fable? Horsman was inspired to create Dog & Crow by her best friend, Sarge, a stoic Rottweiler who had a concentrated curiosity for crows. In 2012, he sadly passed away, and on that solemn day, Horsman was met by a crow as she left the vet. A few days later, while Horsman mournfully walked through the forest, a crow hopped from branch to branch above her – following and watching as she wandered. It was another sign she couldn’t ignore. Sarge and the crow were one and the same. And he’ll always be with her. It compelled her to create his legacy – Dog & Crow.

Not only is this beautiful line birthed from the love of a pet, but a portion of proceeds will be devoted to animal philanthropy via the SPCA.
