Meet Souci

Souci is the most personable and loving dog you will ever meet- she will greet you with a little howling "song" and will shake your paw as you walk in the door! "Souci" means "care" in French and there is a reason why that is her moniker! Souc and I found each other a year ago at a Humane Society in Atlanta, GA. It was her sweet eyes and her beautiful, one of a kind cinnamon coat that won me over, but it was her suffering heart that had me sold! Souci was severely suffering from heart worms and was literally dying in her little cage. After rescuing her we endured several dangerous treatments together and her true personality began to shine! Soon after I brought her home and went to her first vet visit we began to piece together her history. I already knew she had not been spayed and had JUST had a liter of little puppies, but the vet informed me she had more than one liter and personally thought she had been used for breeding and was let loose to fend for herself due to an eye condition she was developing which prevented her from being a certified breeding dog. I was outraged and felt so hurt for my sweet, and in my eyes, perfect, new dog so I took to the internet! Sure enough I found her picture on a local breeders website. Souci is the best dog I have ever seen at performing tricks. Her favorites include shake, high five, and her most recent "say your prayers!" We think this in part have to do with performing for customers at the puppy mill :) Her silliest trait though is her hoarding. She goes around the house and "collects" things. Her favorite items have been the atypical shoes, bags of solo cups, glasses, magazines, thank you notes, paper towels, boxes of pasta noodles, and full water bottles. She never chews, just licks! We like to think she likes to have a full bed because she misses all her babies :) To cut the story short, Souci has experienced "care" for probably the first time. She will be undergoing eye surgery this year and is proud to be a survivor of what even the vet considered a deadly degree of heart worm! I am so thankful she found her forever home with me and I will gladly care for as long as she is here for me to.
