Already advertising? Here’s what you can do to enhance your results:
1. Critique your ad. Modern Dog’s graphics department has put together the following questions you should ask yourself when assessing your ad:
- Are your graphics/photos high quality? One image speaks a thousand words. Homemade, fuzzy images are not okay.
- Do you have all your contact info: telephone, email and website? Is it legible? i.e., is the type large enough for your customers to easily read?
- Does it emphasize the website URL?
- As most customers check out your website prior to ordering it’s essential to keep your website updated, secure and easy to navigate.
- Does your ad give prospective clients a call to action? Or perhaps offer an incentive?
- Does your ad tell people where they can get the product? (ie. is it exclusive to your site?ย Or is it available at upscale pet boutique nationwide? Let your prospective customers know)
- Is your ad competitive? Does it point out advantages over the competition? Consider including a line of text somewhere saying why your product is superior or at least explain benefits of the product.
- Make sure your ads have a consistent look/logo.
- Design with a purpose- keep in mind your target audience and create an ad that speaks to them.
- Don’t forget to KISS- "Keep It Simple, Silly!" Keep in mind the size limitations of your ad, and don’t over-crowd the ad with too much information. Most readers have a short attention span.
2.ย Utilize your online ads! Make sure you donโt forget to send Modern Dog your ad material for any complimentary online ads you may have received! Ask your sales rep to check if you have any outstanding ad material. By virtue of being on Modern Dogโs website your Google ranking goes up! If you need help creating your ad, feel free to call us! 3. Utilize your "As Seen In" badges. Let the world know that you are part of Modern Dog by posting the โAs Seen Inโ badges on your website. Itโs free and itโll increase your credibility in the viewerโs mind.
4. Utilize your 20/$20 copies. For $20 you can get 20 copies of the magazine with your ad in it. A great gift for valued customers (part of that โadded-valueโ strategy) and/or use them for marketing. For instance, some of our advertisers like to put a stickers on the cover that say something like, โCompliments of Joeโs Toys. Check us out on page xxโ and they then hand them out to local vet offices, salons, groomers, or send them to potential clients.
