Meet SoCo

Let me just start by saying that since I was 5, I have been afraid of dogs. When my brother got a dog over 10 years ago, my fear began to diminish somewhat. So when my husband and I decided to get a dog, I knew I wanted to rescue one - I just was not expecting to fall in love with a pitbull. I had scoured Petfinder looking for a great looking dog that we could meet before adopting and every dog that I feel for was a pitbull. So we decided to meet one. We adopted SoCo about 3 years ago from the West Warwick Shelter after reading her story on Petfinder. She was found wandering the streets during a winter storm and was rescued by an officer. SoCo was so delighted to be rescued she leapt into the patrol car and showered the officer with kisses. This past year has been tough for her and we almost lost her this past summer when a mass on her spleen ruptured and she began to bleed internally. Thankfully the vets at animal hospital that we brought her too saved her life and she is also cancer free!I have fallen in love with the breed and I cannot imagine our life without her.
