Meet Shadow

This is Shadow. Lab mix...part Lab/part marshmallow. We adopted her from Lab Rescue of Maryland at the ripe old age of 2 years minus 4 months. She was a drifter, in and out of several homes and even a trip to a shelter or two, details are sketchy. She didn't like people knowing too much about her. She might get attached if she shared too much and then they would just pass her on to the next place and break her gigantic heart again. When I saw her for the first time I am ashamed to say I was one of "those" looking for a puppy. ONLY a puppy! As fate would have it our eyes locked across the room and even now I get teary eyed thinking about that moment - the connection was instantaneous. Needless to say she came home with us and the rest is history. Cue lights and music. Laaa!!! Screech! Not exactly. Shadow had a lot of "issues" from her time in the system. A lot. Dog aggression, food aggression, trust issues - as in none, and a bit of separation anxiety. Fortunately for her I am an amateur dog trainer, self professed animal advocate (freak) and love the challenge so off we went on our adventure together to help her past her problems and into a full enjoyment of what dog life has to offer. And in our house dog life is THE life to have! It took a year and a long road trip from Maryland to Newfoundland together with hubby, we HAD to bring him to help with the driving. Today she has grown into the dog I knew she would be when we first locked eyes... I love her more than words can say and you will be seeing lots of pictures of her here in this contest if we don't win right away. Because like her I don't give up - I will wait for someone to recognize my potential. That's how we roll...
