Meet SADIE
Sadie was rescued from an abusive home two years ago. Fortunately, I had contacted our local poodle rescue a month prior so I first in line for this sweet dog! We are inseparable! Sadie comes with me to the office and wards off evil solicitors with her fierce, protective bark! She and I do errands together, pick up the boys from school, and of course, play at the park daily. Sadie showed great respect to our ailing Shepherd Mix, Heidi and even brought her 'back to life' in her last year with us. She always allowed Heidi to be the leader and gave her an abundance of love and comfort. Sadie still looks for her old pal when we come in home and it breaks my heart but I reassure her Heidi will always be with us. Sadie came to us with severe separation anxiety which has definitely gotten better but is not something to be dismissed. She is scared of many things; including new people (especially men), loud noises and odd things like a trash can on a side walk which she carefully avoids. I hate to think of what caused my girl such trauma. Neglect, abuse, lack of attention and affection. The other dogs she originally lived with ate all of her food and growled at her as she neared her bowl. Needless to say, she has gained about 12 pounds with us but is still hesitant to run to her dog bowl. Sometimes I have to sit with her to reassure her it's okay to eat HER food. So, this photo of Sadie is my favorite because it shows an overcomer underdog! She is smiling and is free! She knows not the abuse she once endured. She is facing the wind head on and enjoying the sunshine. Her life is forever changed; as is mine. We are grateful.
