Meet Marbles

Marbles is an Australian Shepherd that I adopted from a pet rescue when he was 4 months old. He was born deaf, and as is so common in purebred dogs, was slated to be destroyed because deafness is not a desirable trait to possibly show up in future offspring. I had just finished taking a course in American Sign Language and had just recently lost my other dog and when I walked into the pet store sponsoring the pet adoption I walked over to the playpen and there he was. I hung around the shopping center for two hours waiting to see if the other family was going to come and pick him up and I am thankful every day they didn't. He is just over a year old now and is the love of our family. He is protective of my 5 year old daughter and has taught us so much. He has his forever home right here at the beach and everyone who meets him adores him. He might be "broken" to the breeders, but to us he is absolutely perfect! ...and , yes, he is learning sign and has a special vibrating collar we have started training him on!
