Meet Jake

This is Jake. Jake is a 10 year old Rottweiler and recently became known as the Today Shows Top Dog 2nd round finalist as the Green dog that recycles.Jake is a semi retired Search and rescue dog who loves his job more then anything. When I got a call out for a search and I would get my gear and his vest Jake already knew he was going to be working and instantly wanted to get into the truck ! Jake has been a working dog since he has been 9 weeks old and a couble of years ago I used to take Jake to the softball tournaments and when the players would throw their gatorates on the ground,he would fetch them and bring them to me. I had told jake to throw it away in the garbage and of course he just looked at me and didnt know what i wanted. I took him over to the garbage can and told him to throw it in there and sure enough he jumped up and threw it in! So I decided what better way to teach people that they can help pick up garbage or just simply not litter then to show it through a dog (Jake) On our off days Jake and I go to the local parks were Jake picks up the trash that people leave behind and he puts it in the garbage. Because of his talent he has been in the local papers and news and also landed him a spot on the NBC Today show twice and because of his talent to keep the parks litter clean it has let the Men of Weber (WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY) of Utah to unofficially adopted him as their Anti Littering Mascot. I hope Jake can win the hearts of the people once more and have a chance to apear in your magazine. Thank you and wish us luck !
