Meet Ginger

My two girls out in the Freshly fallin Midwest Snow. I used a flash to capture the snow fall and it truly makes this picture look like a beautiful scenic winter wonderland. Our Newfie is just one year old in this pic and Chelsea is 10 The Newfoundland are considered a Gentle Giant which is very true. Ginger is very proud as you can see in this pic. and its no wonder with their history of being life saving dogs from way back. Even their genes saved lives back in the 1800's in England. The St. Bernard breed was dieing of a Distemper outbreak and no one could stop it. So they ended up taking a gene out of the Newfoundland dog breed and injecting it into the St. Bernard's to see if if would help and it saved the lives of the St. Bernard. The Newfie has webbed paws and are strong swimmers. They were used by the fishermen to pull fishermen out of the water when they had fallin in. In one town the mayor want to kill or export the Newfoundland Breed out because they were to large of a dog and the mayor wanted to limited the newfies to only one per family. well the towns people never listened to the mayor and kept their dogs which help keep the Newfoundland breed around today. The Newfoundland history goes on and on on saving lives in many different ways. So I had to own one for there heroic actions throughout history
