Meet Brit & Paisley
It's hard to submit a picture of Paisley with out her big sister Britney by her side. You see Paisley came to our family abused, sick, loosing hair, and very scared. She was a rescue dog on death row when we donated money for a local rescue group to save her. The email updates and photos of her at just 4lbs (when for her size she should have been at least 6lbs) was too much for us to turn away. It was a big decision to bring a new dog in the home, especially one who was so sick since Britney had always been an only child (dog) and was as healthy as they come. But we did it and wouldn't change it for the world. Nursing Paisley back to health has been one of the proudest ventures in our lives, for my husband and I and for Britney. Unlike the cute stumbles of a little puppy taking their first steps or learning new tricks, Paisley was an adult, beaten and abused and forced to have puppy after puppy. She was terrified of stairs, and when people stood over her yet oddly enough... she just wanted to lay on your chest, curl up in your arms, or scootch a little closer to her new big sister. Britney would lay by Paisley watching her, trying to figure out why this girl was so sad, so cautious. When Paisley would come home from the countless trips to the vets' she would lay next to her and wait for her to wake up. Britney herself even ended up sick with Kennel Cough because we discovered that Paisley had been exposed to it. This was all just 4 months ago. Today Paisley's skin is no longer black, her hair has grown in and turned a perfect pale blonde, she knows her name, can sit, stay, and dance. She is no longer on daily meds and has learned the most important thing to a dog... love. Together the girls are sidekicks, one barks the other barks, when one gives kisses the other's gotta give kisses. Paisley's even learned Britney's "art of making the perfect bed". The picture above is from our holiday family photos. I can't believe that this Paisley in the photos is the same little girl we brought home just a few months ago. And I am so proud of our family for being able to make such a difference in her little life.
