Ace

Meet Ace

Ace came to us in the early spring of last year. We adopted him from a family who loved him dearly but didn't have time to give him the attention he deserved. Since then Ace has become more than just our best friend, he is family. This summer Ky and her mom were on a run when a black bear charged them. Ace went from being gentle and careful to terminator. He sprinted ahead and met the bear head on. The bear turned, ran and Ace pursued it until Ky and her mom were safe. If he hadn't been there the situation would have ended up much worse. I am currently finishing my undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering so long nights in the lab are frequent. Ace usually joins me and sleeps at my feet on his bed. Some of the faculty have toddlers and they love him. His patience and kindness are beyond anyones imagination. He is truly the best companion we could ever have wished for. This picture of him was taken while the three of us were hiking in the mountains behind Petersville, Alaska. He never lets us out of his sight and is always on the look out.
