Saturna Island Winery

 

Escaping busy city living with a weekend retreat to my Gulf Islands’ haunt is one of my favourite ways to relax and unwind.  Beyond beautiful, with a favourable year-round climate, I’ve just discovered one more reason to love this locale… Saturna Island Family Estate Vineyards. I recently had the pleasure of trying their new Woof White, a 100% Estate grown Pinot Gris which was a perfect accompaniment to the assortment of Salt Spring Island cheeses we paired it with – truly delicious! It gets even better though, they’ve partnered with Mosaic Dog Rescue to donate $2 from every bottle of their Woof White sold to this Saturna Island-based animal rescue fund. If you look closely you’ll notice that the dog on the wine’s label is actually a mosaic of many breeds of dogs within one larger dog and was commissioned by Mosaic Dog Rescue founder, Janet Land, and painted by Jack Campbell, a Saturna Island artist.  It’s hard not to love this spirit!!
