Working with animals is a dream job for so many, but finding the right place to start a career in animal health care can often prove quite difficult without the right experience and training.
Granville College has been training Veterinary Assistants for over 24 years, and developed the first Veterinary Assistant program in Canada. They have over 1,800 graduates working in veterinary clinics and hospitals across the country.
In less than a year, their diploma program provides hands-on, practical training that prepares you for a wide range of careers working with animals, and it’s available both full and part-time.
Your Dream Career
The Veterinary Assistant programs at Granville College cover many subjects related to animal health from nutrition, health conditions, veterinary software training, and even surgical assisting. As part of the course students also complete a three-week practicum placement at a clinic or hospital in BC, giving them the work experience needed to start applying for jobs.
Updated program – Veterinary Technician Assistant Program
This year Granville College has updated their full-time program to provide even more hands-on experience and a greater focus on laboratory skills, ensuring that their students become valued assets in veterinary treatment areas.

Aside from working in animal hospitals and clinics, Granville College graduates have also taken positions in shelters, the SPCA, wildlife rehabilitation centres, pet insurance companies, and veterinary pharmaceutical companies just to name a few!
