The Honest Kitchen Honored for Anti-Puppy Mill Stance, Launching New Treats and Book this Fall
The Honest Kitchen has been honored by The Humane Society of America with a special plaque for being a part of 'The Humane Economy.' As you may or may not know, the brand refuses to sell its products in any 'puppy mill' stores, and instead supports pet retailers who host pet adoptions and work with local rescue groups. Read more about the brand's stance in a letter from CEO Lucy Postins.
In line with its commitment to creating high-quality cuisine for our furry friends, the brand is also launching two new delectable treat lines in October:
Nice Mussels™, the first and only human grade blue and green freeze-dried mussels for dogs will be available in late October. The Honest Kitchen’s mussels are all-natural and safe for everyday feeding. Made with only green and blue mussels sustainably farmed in New Zealand, the mussels are freeze-dried to preserve maximum nutrients, quality and taste. Designed as a treat with benefits, blue and green mussels contain Omega-3 fatty acids to support healthy skin and coat. The treat’s pleasant texture and taste add an exciting variety to a pet’s diet. Mussels will retail for $12.99 for a 2 oz. pouch.
The Honest Kitchen will launch a 100% human grade Joyful Jerky™ Filets and Bites. The minimally processed jerky line contains real, whole food ingredients and no fillers, by-products, glycerin (a by-product of soap production), sugars or mixed tocopherols. Joyful Jerk will be available in four varieties: Beef Filets, Beef Bites, Chicken Filets and Chicken Bites. Joyful Jerky™ contains actual slices of muscle meat – delicious ranch raised beef, from the round cut, and all-natural chicken breast. Unlike conventional pet jerky, this process does not include the mixing of other ingredients to form uniform pieces. Joyful Jerky Beef Bites and Filets will retail for $14.99 in 3.25 oz pouches and Chicken Bites and Filets will retail for $12.99 in 4 oz pouches.
Meanwhile, Lucy Postins will release her book, Dog Obsessed, on Oct. 11.
