The Law Catches Up To What We Already Knew
Growing awareness that animal abusers often go on to commit similar atrocities against humans is leading to significant changes in the way US lawmakers are dealing with those cases. Before, many attempts at prosecution were hindered by budgetary restrictions, leaving authorities no choice but to leave the affected animal in the care of the abuser. Now, with the financial burdens being shifted to the defendant rather than the taxpayer, they are better able to prosecute the offenders and to remove the animal from their custody.
