I just visited the offices of Pets Plus Us (a Canadian pet insurance company in Oakville, Ontario) that not only has an incredible new modern office with an open concept design facilitating collaboration between its staff, but the best part of their “open-ness” is that dogs and cats are welcome to come to work with their owners. Yes, employees are allowed to bring their dogs and cats to work! There are a lot of dog moms/dads out there who wish they could be in this enviable position. As a matter of fact, 54% of Modern Dog readers would even take a job for lesser pay if they could bring their dogs to work with them. I think more employers should consider making their workplaces pet-friendly especially as its been proven that dogs help to make us feel calmer/less stressed, reducing blood pressure and heart rate, thereby keeping us healthier. Statistics also back up that employees who get to bring their dogs to work are absent less often and even work longer hours. If employers considered the benefits that healthier  more productive employees woud bring to their bottom line, perhaps the pet-friendly workplace trend would grow more quickly.
