Incessant maladies be damned!
The poor guy just can’t catch a break! Forgive my exasperated outburst, but I’m feeling a wee bit frustrated with the run of bad luck that seems to be relentlessly following Chance. Yesterday I noticed he was more itchy than usual and decided to give him a bath to soothe his skin. It was during his bath that I noticed one of his ear flaps was incredibly swollen; I mean Reebok Air Pump shoes swollen! Of course my immediate reaction was to call Carol at SAINTS who informed me that this was likely a build-up of fluid in the ear as a result of too much head shaking and rubbing. You rugby/wrestling guys and gals out there will know this uncomfortable affliction as cauliflower ear – gross.
Unfortunately, unlike us humans, Chance’s ears can’t simply be drained, this will most likely require surgery to correct. Have any of you experienced this with your dogs, and if so, what did you do?
