It’s heart-warming to see celebrities using their star power to effect positive change.  In my blog today I’d like to shine a light on award-winning Felicity Huffman (of Desperate Housewives’ fame), who is using her star power as the North American ambassador for Iams Home 4 the Holidays campaign and in so doing bringing attention to the millions of homeless animals awaiting adoption (do you know that more than 4 million dogs and cats will be euthanized this year due to overcrowded shelters?).

Felicity rescued her own pooch, Tucker, from an animal shelter so she knows first-hand what wonderful pets rescued animals make. Now in its ninth year, Iams Home For the Holidays along with nearly 3,000 pet adoption centers, has helped place pets with more than 2 million families!!  Last year they assisted in 500,000 pet adoptions and this year with Felicity Huffman on board, hope to raise even greater awareness and have therefore doubled their adoption goal to one million. The program runs from October 1, 2008 to January 4, 2009.
