Calling All Canine “Couples”
As a kick-off for the launch of the 7th annual Woofstock summer of love celebration (a 2-day event held every June in Toronto, Canada), what could be more fitting than "mutterings" of Bow Vows. Yep, you heard right, in conjunction with this year’s Woofstock, a first-ever Woofstock Doggie Weddings High Tea is planned in honour of love-struck pooches who will celebrate their "commuttment" to canine love and companionship.
This special event will take place Sunday June 7th, the weekend preceding Woofstock, consisting of a traditional "high tea" wedding reception to be hosted by the historic Le Meridien King Edward Hotel.
Blushing canine "brides," flanked by their "bridesmaids" in all their finery, along with their proud "grooms," will give voice to their "bow vows" before lapping up specially brewed doggie tea and licking their chops over freshly baked wedding cake towers of doggie cupcakes.ย The King Eddy’s regal Windsor Ballroom will provide an elegant picture-perfect setting for wedding party photos.
Pawsitively Spectacular Prizes… the best dressed doggie bride and groom will each win a honeymoon weekend package for two at the Kind Edward Hotel for their proud owners during the Woofstock Festival, June 13 and 14.
Space is limited to just 25 canine couples and dogs, so if you’d like Fifi and Rufus joined in holy mutrimony (before they decide to just run off and elope), you’ve got to hurry. Dogs must attend as a "couple" ย and be appropriately attired for the occasion. Human participants must reserve in advance at info@woofstock.ca referencing Woofstock Weddings in the subject line of their email, and include a brief story about how the bride and groom met, as well as the name, age and breed of each dog that will be participating.
Admission is free, although a voluntary $10 donation is welcomed towards Woofstock’s charity of choice, the Pet Trust Fund in support of canine cancer research at the Ontario Veterinary College.
