Being a face for Modern Dog magazine, ย my Wirehaired Dachshund Penny should really be
looking perfectly groomed at all times; however that seldom happens especially with
our busy schedules and all. As a matter of fact, my mop of a dog is currently
looking more like a Bichon/Poodle/ShihTzu mix rather than the breed she actually
is. So I consulted with our mobile grooming friends at Aussie Pet Mobile.
Conveniently, they came to me. Their grooming van is equipped with sink,
grooming tools, blow dryerโ€ฆ everything we needed to get Penny looking picture perfect.
The problem was, when I saw the picture of the Wirehaired Dachshund style in
the grooming book I wasnโ€™t sure I was ready to say goodbye to all that
fluffyness that Iโ€™ve come to know as Pennyโ€™s style. Iโ€™m therefore going to have to give
it a little more thought before the scissors start to fly. Should I just get
her trimmed up a little, tidying up the hair around her face and underside, or
should I go for the full-meal-deal? More
on my decision later.

My mop-haired dog resigns herself to fate:

Here’s the official Wirehaired Dachshund cut – do I go for it, or not?:

Penny gets a reprieve, our decision will be made another day!
