Wash

Chiribaya Shepherd

Meet Wash

"Look mom, I got my ear up all by myself!" Our little Wash was rescued from a shelter in Lima, Peru. He was so filthy when we got him, we had to wash him 3 times! He's an absolute sweety and a total clown - he's got lots of admirers! Not long after we got him, they discovered ancient mummies of a bunch of yellow short legged dogs, apparently of a single breed, in southern coastal Peru. They were very much revered, and apparently used as llama herders. There's a lot of dogs in coastal Peru and northern Chile who look like Wash's cousins, and with the discovery, they've been working on getting breed status for the Chiribaya Shepherd. I don't know how much of a llama herder Wash would be, though. He was afraid of even a baby sheep!
