When Susan Patterson wanted a small dog in Vancouver, but was unable to find one that suited her needs (mostly due to low shelter rates in BC) she went to the US to find a dog who needed a home. Upon seeing the incredible need of animals in high-kill shelters, she is working on a rescue operation that she is calling 'Thank Dog I Am Out.’ With the help of the charity Wings of Rescue, a fleet of animal-loving pilots who save thousands of dogs and cats from high-kill zones in the U.S. each year, on October 4, they will be rescuing 100 small dogs who would otherwise be euthanized.
