News and entertainment media can be powerful motivators, influencing people’s decisions, perceptions and behaviour. When the media use that power to influence positive change, those efforts deserve recognition.

The 2013 Genesis Awards Benefit Gala will be doing just that this Saturday, March 23rd at the Beverly Hilton. The event will be hosted by “Dancing with the Stars” favorite Carrie Ann Inaba, and celebrates the role that news and entertainment media play in advocating for animals. The HSUS’ Genesis Awards Benefit Gala marks 27 years of inspiring change for animals, with this year’s event benefitting three of the organization’s top animal welfare priorities: Pets for Life, Chimps Deserve Better and Farm Animal Protection. Global pop icon Ke$ha will receive The Wyler Award, an award bestowed on a celebrity or public figure who has made news on behalf of animals.

The HSUS will bestow the inaugural Genesis Corporate Award on the global cosmetics company LUSH.
