As most of you already know, my dogs are perfect angels who never misbehave and certainly don’t stray from their yard, therefore ID tags have never been a priority in our house (although all three of my little bad-asses are tattooed). Conversely, my mom’s dog (and Roxy’s bosom buddy), Mac, seems to have a penchant for escaping their fenced yard and wandering the streets at his leisure, eventually returning home spattered with mud and twigs.

Finally at her wits end with Mac’s nomadic spirit, my mom requested that I find an ID tag for him. Having particularly discerning tastes, just any old bone-shaped engraved aluminum tag wouldn’t do, she needed something stylish and functional that would reflect both her and Mac’s taste. After perusing through a variety of options on Etsy, I came across Dog Gone Tags, and suddenly found myself wishing that my dogs were more prone to drifting. These uniquely adorable tags are customizable to suit any personality, and creator Melissa Gilkey is just plain nice!

I was delighted with the finished product (which, by the way, arrived shortly after ordering). However, I wasn’t so thrilled to discover that my mother had changed her phone number after I had already ordered the tag, so the number engraved on it was now out of use. You just can’t help some people.
