This September, Arts Brookfield is presenting dOGUMENTA, a curated exhibition created especially for pups! It will take place at downtown Los Angeles’ premier shopping and dining center, FIGat7th. Featuring artwork commissions from LA-area artists including Gali Basel, Sabrina Clouden, Meena Khalili, Janne Larsen, Joshua Levine, Gary Lockwood aka Freehand Prophet, Tucker Marder, Tibi Tibi Neuspiel, Ruben Rojas and Alex Sheriff.

Neither by nor about dogs, dOGUMENTA is the premiere art show for dogs! Contemporary artists address and explore the aesthetic concerns, interests and worldviews from the emerging cultural community of our canine friends. dOGUMENTA exhibitions are designed to engage culture hounds of all breeds by allowing dogs to be dogs – to sniff, pee, and even eat the interactive, multimedia works! dOGUMENTA’s awesome curatorial team comprises a Morkie named Rocky, his human companion, the art critic Jessica Dawson, and arts consultant Mica Scalin.

“That my four-legged friend could sniff out some of the best contemporary art came as a shock,” Dawson says. “Then I understood that a canine sensibility might be the key to navigating today’s complex art world.”

Arts Brookfield strives to bring art to all walks of life” says Erica Overskei, Program Manager for Arts Brookfield LA. “An exhibition like dOGUMENTA will remind people that art is for everyone and we hope it will encourage people to seek out creativity in all its forms and to share that experience with a loved one…human, canine, or other!”

dOGUMENTA’s curatorial team hand-selected each artist specifically as they represent a variety of aesthetic approaches and are among the best creatives in LA contemporary art. What’s more, each Sunday will include an onsite mobile dog adoption service with LA Animal Services and Friday, September 21 will feature a Yappy Hour from 5-7 pm on the FIGat7th plaza that will be open to the public. Humans and dogs alike are encouraged to come!

dOGUMENTA is also pleased to announce a partnership with Nature’s Recipe® premium dog food and The Standard, Downtown LA.

The exhibition is free and open to the public over the Sept. 14-16 and Sept. 21-23 weekends, as part of Arts Brookfield’s mission to bring Brookfield’s public spaces to life through art and event programming. Get your tickets here!

Reserving a ticket is strongly encouraged and guarantees entry. Walk-ons will be let into the exhibit on a first come, first served basis. Only one dog per person and all dogs must be on a leash. Humans are also welcome!
