Carolyn Hennesy, Emmy-nominated TV actress and New York Times best-selling author, will shadow veterinary surgeon Karen “Doc” Halligan on Tues. Jan. 31 at Pacoima Shopping Center, 9801 Laurel Canyon Blvd., during spay/neuter operations performed aboard the Lucy Pet Foundation Mobile Spay and Neuter Bus. The spay/neuter operations, in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Animal services and provided at no cost, will be performed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. A low-cost vaccine clinic will also be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Lucy Pet Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) registered animal charity with the mission to reduce pet over population using mobile spay/neuter clinics across the country.  Its goal is to reduce the euthanasia of more than 80,000 cats and dogs per week across the United States.

“I can’t tell you what a thrill it is for me to be part of the activities that take place aboard the Lucy Pet Foundation mobile spay and neuter bus,” said avid pet lover Carolyn Hennesy.  Working with a skilled veterinary surgeon to see how these spay/neuter procedures are done and how much they help in preventing pet over population will be a once in a lifetime experience.  I’m really looking forward to it.”

Karen Halligan D.V.M. and Lucy Pet Foundation’s Chief Veterinary Officer, is the award-winning author of Doc Halligan’s What Every Pet Owner Should Know: Prescriptions for Happy, Healthy Cats and Dogs.  She appears regularly on TV shows The Doctors, Live with Kelly Ripa, Today Show, Fox & Friends, and The KTLA Morning News for “Ask the Doc.”

“It’s always exciting for me to show how effective the Lucy Pet Foundation’s no cost mobile spay and neuter bus is in helping to prevent pet over population by providing services to pet owners that might not regularly be able to afford them,” said Halligan.  “I’m really looking forward to working together with Carolyn who has such a deep appreciation and love of animals.”
