Puppy Mills
A while back a fifteen year old boy emailed us to request advertising rates to promote his business that, upon questioning, turned out to be an online hub for brokering puppies. Needless to say we turned him down. Modern Dog doesn’t accept advertising from anyone selling dogs as we don’t have the time it would take to determine if the request came from a legitimate breeder. Breeders who care about their dogs would never sell them through an online brokering service, nor
Most of my friends and family love dogs just about as much as I do, and with so many of us going to weddings over the summer, I thought I’d share a book that recently came into the office that features our furry best friends as important participants in that special day. Dogs and weddings... a recipe for disaster? Maybe not, read on:
For many of us, this stat holiday marks the beginning of summer. However you opt to spend it, I hope you have an awesome day! For me, it’s all about taking some downtime like an afternoon at the beach with my dog Penny (I’ll hopefully be able to coax her in for a swim) an evening barbeque, a glass (or two) of cold white wine and a game of bocce… nothing too exciting, just a quiet, relaxing time.
If you’ll be bringing your dog with you to some of the day’s festivities, please don’t

I’ve learned a lot, but most importantly it’s brought about a significant change in how I perceive and relate to dogs (and animals in general

Here at Modern Dog’s headquarters we know firsthand the advantages of having our canine side kicks lying in their dog beds alongside our desks… both dog and human alike benefit from this arrangement. Let’s face it dogs are social beings and want to be part of the pack and would therefore rather be spending their day with us than being home alone. And apart

I’m loathe to get out of my cycling-to-work regimen as I’m afraid that once I do, I’ll find the same old excuses not

Enter Woofstock: the outdoor festival that not only allows dogs, but is all about dogs, and we're there every year, we wouldn't miss it! Tens of thousands of dogs and their

Maybe you’re even planning to take Rover along on a road trip to the beach or along on summer vacation. When packing up the car for your next adventure, be prepared... don’t forget to throw in a Doggie First Aid Kit. They’re available pre-made, but it’s usually less costly (plus you’ll end up with a way better kit

The sight of those sparkling white flowers set against the carpet of green grass brings me back to summers before when I’d walk with Penny’s predecessor, my Kaya-girl, a spirited Weimaraner/Pointer cross, who’d romp and play and race with her canine pals on that same long, open stretch of grass. On one beautiful, warm

Rather than talk myself out of it as I sometimes do with arguments such as, “I’ve got to bring the car as I’ll need to quickly get to that after-work appointment”, or “I’ve got too many things to carry so I’ll need the car”, or worse yet, “it takes too long and I can better spend the time working”, I instead talk myself into it with just how much better I’ll feel
