Being a face for Modern Dog magazine,  my Wirehaired Dachshund Penny should really be
looking perfectly groomed at all times; however that seldom happens especially with
our busy schedules and all. As a matter of fact, my mop of a dog is currently
looking more like a Bichon/Poodle/ShihTzu mix rather than the breed she actually
is. So I consulted with our mobile grooming friends at Aussie Pet Mobile.
Conveniently, they came to me. Their grooming van is equipped with sink,
grooming tools, blow dryer… everything we needed to get Penny looking picture perfect.
The problem was, when I saw the picture of the Wirehaired Dachshund style in
the grooming book I wasn’t sure I was ready to say goodbye to all that
fluffyness that I’ve come to know as Penny’s style. I’m therefore going to have to give
it a little more thought before the scissors start to fly. Should I just get
her trimmed up a little, tidying up the hair around her face and underside, or
should I go for the full-meal-deal? More
on my decision later.

My mop-haired dog resigns herself to fate:

Here’s the official Wirehaired Dachshund cut – do I go for it, or not?:

Penny gets a reprieve, our decision will be made another day!
