Chance 1.jpg

The saga of Chance's medical misfortunes carries on. This weekend we had another vet visit which resulted in the diagnosis of an ear infection and an ulcer on his left eye. With most normal dogs, these would be minor issues easily remedied by topical drops and antibiotics; however, Chance is not a normal dog. I don't know what was done to him in the past, but this dog absolutely detests any medical treatment to the point of extreme fear aggression. While trying to hold him at the vet for an

Taking a leave of absence from the ongoing turmoil that continues to wreak havoc on my house, I got the heck outta' dodge last week and headed down to Orlando for the Global Pet Expo! Although any time spent away from my crew is too long, I have to admit that Orlando is a warm temptress boasting balmy breezes and the ultimate in entertainment - Universal Studios. I know this has nothing to do with dogs or the trade show, but let me tell you a little secret. I LOVE Jurassic Park, and the

I recently had the chance to stay at the lovely (and very dog friendly) Loden Boutique Hotel in the heart of beautiful Coal Harbour, Vancouver. This chic hotel is situated right downtown, so the location is perfect, especially since it's in walking distance of several off-leash dog parks! Plus, it's just plain pretty.

Checking in with your pooches is a breeze, and

Although Jeremy and I are total scrooges when it comes to Valentine's Day, I always insist on doing something special for the dogs. This year, rather than mess up my own kitchen to bake the dogs some healthy and delicious treats, I decided to order some from Brainy Cakes, an in-home dog bakery in my area that delivers! I ordered four "Daisy's Heart" cakes (named after a sweet pittie client of Brainy Cakes who recently passed),

Sorry for my blog negligence this week, but things are just so chaotic at our house still! Renos have been delayed yet again, so Chance is still staying with Carol at SAINTS while the insurance company decides which contractor to hire to start the repairs...arghh! This means that Roxy and Cash have been confined to our spare room while the cleaning crews and contractors go in-and-out in our absence. The poor things are probably quite

Things have been a bit hectic in my house over the past few days. On Thursday a frozen pipe burst and flooded our house, causing some major damage to our floors, walls and ceilings. As anyone who's experienced a flood can attest, there are many repairs that need to be done including redoing drywall and replacing the hardwood flooring throughout our living/dining room, which has left us with completely bare cement floors that are incredibly cold and rough, especially on poor Chance's

Chance is really cute. That is all.

This weekend we had the first real snowfall of the year, so we all bundled up and headed out for a romp in the frosty white stuff (except for Chance who does NOT do snow). I was delighted as this afforded me with an excuse to try out Cash's new coat and make use of Roxy's favourite sweater, much to Jeremy's dismay. Although we don't usually dress up our dogs, I felt it was only fair to offer them the same protection from the cold that we had. However, Jeremy was convinced that people would

Doggone tags (2).jpg

As most of you already know, my dogs are perfect angels who never misbehave and certainly don't stray from their yard, therefore ID tags have never been a priority in our house (although all three of my little bad-asses are tattooed). Conversely, my mom's dog (and Roxy's bosom buddy), Mac, seems to have a penchant for escaping their fenced yard and wandering the streets at his leisure, eventually returning home spattered with mud and twigs.

Finally at her wits end with Mac's

Let me preface this post by saying that I am not a vet or a nutritionist, but doggonit my dogs love my cooking! Rather than simply bombarding them with the same boring (but healthy!) kibble every day, I've been trying to mix things up by adding nutritious and delicious dog-friendly extras to their daily meals. Especially now that they're each getting a little longer in the tooth  (Chance, 10, Roxy, 9, and Cash, 8) we're doing everything in our power to maintain their health and prolong
