I love getting unexpected deliveries here at the office, especially when they're addressed specifically to my dogs! Today Roxy and Cash received awesomely edible greetings from Shake A Paw Greetings. This Canadian company sends out personalized greetings to the special pups in your life to thank them for being effortlessly wonderful.

As we prepare our home for the impending arrival of our new pit bull foster, we're reminded again and again of the harsh reality that sometimes comes with being a pit bull lover/guardian/advocate. Recently a friend of ours was out walking her sweet-as-can-be pit bull when a strange woman stopped and asked her "Where is that dog's muzzle?" Let me be clear here, we live in a city that has no breed restrictions whatsoever, so this was particularly puzzling. The next week the same friend was

I just wanted to quickly share these adorable pics with you guys. Ever since their brave dock diving adventures in Whistler, it seems as though Roxy and Cash can't get enough of the water! The rising temperatures could certainly have something to do with this (it was 32 degrees again yesterday!) but I think they both have developed a serious taste for aquatic activities!

Since we had a long weekend here in BC, we decided to take an impromptu trip to Whistler with the dogs to get crazy! It's about a three hour drive from our house to Whistler Village which wasn't too bad in our new dog-friendly car! (PS The Toyota Matrix was definitely designed with dogs in mind, LOVE mine!) As always, we were on the lookout for a hot deal on a pet-friendly hotel and boy did we find one! The Listel hotel's whole first

My best buddy Roxy's 10th birthday is coming up this October, and I am very excited about the celebrations we have planned! This year also marks our 10th year anniversary, so suffice it to say we'll be commemorating these milestones in style! I can't believe the two of us have now been together for a decade, by far the longest relationship I've ever had!

The first time I met Roxy I was 18 and she was just 7 weeks old, tiny and alone in a grungy pet store window. As you can image,

This weekend we went on our annual camping trip with the dogs, this time with my entire family and their canine kids in tow! Altogether there were four dogs; my two miscreants, Roxy and Cash, my aunt's lab/shepherd mix, Chloe, and my other aunt's shepherd, Bear. Unbeknownst to me, Bear harbours a strong dislike for most dogs, but more on that later.

The trip got off to a great start, the dogs were packed up tight in our new car, purchased mostly for the dog-friendly hatchback

I was in my neighbourhood pet store this past weekend (like I am every weekend) when I came across this nostalgic treasure - a Lamb Chop dog toy! Although this beloved TV show aired before the dogs' time, I know they'll still appreciate the adorable, saucy cuddlebug that was Sheri Lewis' best pal.

I watched Lamb Chop's show well beyond infancy into my pre-teen years and am not ashamed to admit that. Something about this soft, snuggly plushie really brings me back, so I couldn't

I think people have preconceptions about Pugs, that they're these lazy, gassy and clumsy oafs. All of that may be true at times (one of the reasons I love them!) but some Pugs are natural athletes. Take Roxy, she is, by nature, an adventurer. Sure she loves to relax on the deck to catch some rays, but after a few minutes of lounging you'll find her back in the pool, searching feverishly underwater for that ever-elusive bobbing tennis ball. She'll fearlessly stick her entire head underneath

This weekend we celebrated Cash's 9th birthday, can't believe how big and handsome my baby boy is getting! I knew I wanted him to have the funnest weekend ever, so I started off by making him a raw beef & veggie cake! I simply mixed lean ground beef, shredded carrots and zucchini squash with a wee bit of garlic powder and rosemary.

(The sangria was for me, not Cash). This

Roxy is so glad that the sun has finally decided to come out here on the west coast! She does NOT like the rain, so the past month (the wettest on record in our area) has been a real downer for her. In fact, I belive that Roxy was suffering from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) so now that summer is here she seems like a whole new dog!

This weekend is Cash's 9th birthday, so we'll definitely be celebrating out in the sun! The warmer temperatures also mean that we'll be filling up

Dog of the Week!
