Adventurin’
Whenever the weekend rolls around, the thing I look forward to most is our Sunday adventures. The dogs, Jer and I bundle up, pack ourselves into the car and go looking for new trails, parks, and beaches to explore! One of our new favourites is the Douglas trail that runs along the Fraser River, only 15 minutes from our house! Although it’s too cold for swimming right now, we love running in and out of the bushes, hiding from Jer and searching for treasures!
Generally the dogs aren’tย huge fans of having their photos taken, but Roxy knows that these overcast skies make for great photo lighting, soย she’llย usually help me toย convince Cash to stand still for a few great shots.ย
Once I’ve taken enough glamour shots to satisfy my inner shutterbug, we head out for adventure! Roxy loves to splash in puddles…
while Cash would rather chase sticks.
Roxy doesn’t like for Cash to have all the fetching fun, so eventually she’ll sneak up to try and steal the giant log Cash has discovered, and a full-on brawl will break out.
I know I shouldn’t encourage this brutish behaviour, but I love to watch Cash tease Roxy, followed by Roxy charging him and smacking him around a bit. It keeps them young, ya know!
I like to get in on the fun too, sometimes by playing peek-a-boo in the bushes, other times by climbing trees with the dogs’ help. Either way, Cash is always close by, totally prepared to catch me when I fall (which is often).ย
Although she loves participating in our wild hijinks, Roxy gets tired a little faster these days, and usually calls it quits after about two hours.
Much to the chagrin of my two tuckered out pups, I tried to get them to pose together for at least one last pic.
Don’t they look annoyed? Well tough beans, that’s what a mama does. Deal with it.
