The 4th of July holiday is the perfect time to spoil yourself with some sweet treats. Why not include your dog in on the sweet treats by making these 4th of July cupcakes for you and your dog. 

 

4th of July Pupcake for your dog

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients (for 6 pupcakes):

2 bananas, mashed

1 Tbsp honey

2 Tbsp canola oil

3 Tbsp natural yogurt

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 ¾ cups whole wheat flour

1 tsp baking soda

For frosting:

1 Tbsp Cream Cheese

Strawberries

Blueberries

 

How to:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350° (180° C).
  2. Combine the banana, honey, oil, yogurt and egg in a large bowl.
  3. Add in the flour and baking soda to wet ingredients.  
  4. Pour into a tin lined with 6 muffin cases.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes and then let cool.
  6. Spread the cream cheese onto the cooled pupcakes and decorate with strawberries and blueberries to make a red, white and blue pattern.
  7. Give to your pup to enjoy!

Ingredients (for 12 cupcakes):

1 1/2  cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

2/3 cup sugar

1/4 tsp salt

2 large eggs

1 1/2 sticks of butter

1/2 cup milk

2 tsp vanilla extract

For frosting:

2 Tbsp cream cheese

1/2 Tbsp powdered sugar

Strawberries 

Blueberries

Red, white and blue sprinkles and decorations (optional)

 

How to:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350° (180° C).
  2. Combine the sugar and butter. 
  3. Add in the flour and baking soda to wet ingredients.  
  4. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until combined. 
  5. Combine the flour, salt and baking powder. 
  6. Stir in half the flour mix followed by half the milk and then the remaining flour and milk. 
  7. Pour into a tin lined with 12 muffin cases.
  8. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes, until golden and then let cool.
  9. Combine cream cheese and powdered sugar and frost cupcakes.
  10. Decorate with strawberries, blueberries and other decorations in a red, white and blue 4th of July pattern. 
  11. Enjoy the cupcakes!
